The second annual Sunshine Ace Hardware EGGfest raised $30,000 to support youth leadership programs in Southwest Florida. Through a partnership with Farm City BBQ Charities, proceeds from the event were shared among Kiwanis, Rotary, 4H Association of Collier County, Youth Leadership Collier, and Junior Deputies.

The EGGfest attracted more than 750 people to Riverside Park in Bonita Springs to share their passion for grilling on the Big Green EGG. Sixteen amateur and professional chefs competed for the coveted title of 2019 EGGhead Grill Master of the year.

The winner of the professional division was Chef Asif Syed, owner of 21 Spices, who competed with the same tandoori chicken recipe that won on the Food Network show Beat Bobby Flay. In the amateur division, the Rotary CLUB OF BONITA won with its smoked “Bacon Candy”. Chefs offered a variety of grilled meats, vegan recipes, as well as gluten free pizza.

While the competition was fierce, there is always a great camaraderie among the chefs in the grilling community. Chefs and guests shared their tips, tools, and lessons learned on the demonstration Big Green EGG grills.

“Nothing brings the community together like great food, fresh off the grill. And, even more rewarding is that the proceeds will help support five deserving charities that are helping develop our future leaders,” said Michael Wynn, president of Sunshine Ace Hardware.

Save the date – April 4, 2020 – for the third annual Sunshine Ace Hardware EGGfest.
