Sunshine Ace Hardware has promoted Maide Mendez to the role of store manager for the company’s new retail store at Founders Square in North Naples.

As store manager, Mendez is responsible for ensuring Sunshine Ace’s new neighbors receive the award-winning customer experience they have come to expect from Sunshine Ace for over 60 years, as well as ensuring a fun and engaging workplace is there to welcome new friendly, knowledgeable associates into the family.

Sunshine Ace’s Founders Square store is expected to open this spring at the northeast corner of Immokalee Road and Collier Boulevard in North Naples. The 20,000-square-foot store will feature commercial paint, grilling and fishing departments, as well as a wide selection of power and hand tools, hardware, lawn and garden supplies, plumbing fixtures, BBQ grills, propane, grilling accessories, gifts and supplies for DIYers.

Mendez will guide efforts to hire full- and part-time jobs being created at the Founders Square store. Available positions as of Jan. 30 include assistant store manager, B2B account executive, cashiers, commercial paint manager, inventory coordinator, receive, repair shop associate, retail delivery driver, sales associate and multiple team leads.

“Northeastern Collier County is among the fastest-growing regions in all of Southwest Florida, yet the area lacks a conveniently located hardware store,” said Sunshine Ace Hardware President Michael Wynn. “Maide embodies Sunshine Ace’s core values and will be a tremendous asset for residents and businesses near Founders Square who soon will have a hardware store of their own.”

Mendez has served as assistant store manager for Sunshine Ace Hardware in Bonita Springs since 2021. She also has experience as an assistant manager and store manager for hardware stores in Southeast Florida.

With the addition of the Founders Square store, Sunshine Ace’s retail portfolio will grow to include 10 hardware locations in Collier, Lee, Charlotte and Pinellas counties, as well as a commercial paint store in Naples. It also operates two Crowder Bros. Ace Hardware stores and two Crowder’s Gifts & Gadgets shops in Manatee County. Sunshine Ace’s residential customers in Naples, Marco Island and Bonita Springs also have access to Ace Handyman Services, a unique program that allows homeowners to hire experienced, Ace-certified craftsmen to complete a variety of household projects.
